Larry Bivins

Moderator: History of the ATA & Black Tennis

Larry is a former retired journalist who took an early retirement buyout from USA Today in 2013 after spending more than 30 years as a newspaper reporter and editor. He worked in such major news markets as Miami, New York City and Detroit before settling in the Washington, DC area, where he has lived for the past 27 years. Since the fall of 2013, Larry has been involved in real estate as a sales associate with Long & Foster Real Estate.

In 2016, he began the Tennisinthehood blog, blending his passion for writing with his love for the sport that he embraced as an adult. If Larry is not trying to sell houses, you can find him on a tennis court. His blog is dedicated to the promotion of tennis in communities of color, particularly in the nation’s inner cities.
